Clinical Practice: Australian Nursing Perspectives

Townsville

30 days placement. Semester 1 and 2.

Available ONLY to International students enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing Science.

Clinical placement offers opportunities for supervised clinical learning and experience specifically designed for international pre-registration nursing students. The focus of this clinical placement subject is an opportunity to apply skills and theoretical nursing knowledge to practice, in an Australian nursing context. Placements will be undertaken in a variety of hospital and community-based settings. The student will work in a preceptor facilitator/educator relationship with an experienced registered nurse for all components of the clinical placement.

Skills learnt in theoretical nursing subjects will be developed and practised in the clinical arena.

Learning Objectives:

undertake the role of a novice registered nurse;

consolidate theory and practice skills and attitudes necessary to practise as a registered nurse;

experience nursing in the Australian nursing context and within Australian health care services.

This is a non-graded pass/fail subject. 100% attendance at clinical placement is an expectation for this subject. Satisfactory completion of all assessment items is necessary to pass this subject.
