Clinical Practice

HECS Band 1

225 hours clinical placement. Semester 2.

Clinical placement offers students opportunities for supervised learning. The focus of the clinical placement is the application of knowledge and skills gained throughout the three years of this course. All placements will be held in acute care settings. The student will work in a preceptored relationship with an experienced registered nurse for the six-week duration of the clinical placement.

Learning Objectives:

undertake the role of a novice registered nurse within the student's chosen area of practice;

consolidate theory and practice skills and attitudes necessary to practice as a registered nurse.

Preceptors, in conjunction with individual students, will complete the `Comprehensive Assessment Tool for Clinical Competency'. This subject will be marked as a non-graded pass/fail based on the student's ability to meet the Australian Nursing Council Competency Standards.
