Integrated Nursing 1

20 hours lectures, 20 hours tutorials, 20 hours of nursing science laboratories, 225 hours clinical placement Semester 1 (Townsville, Cairns, Mount Isa campus); Limited Attendance with 225 hours clinical placement and a five-day residential school (Townsville campus) Semester 1.

Available only to level 3 nursing science students.

This subject is designed to allow nursing students to explore specialty areas of nursing. The two specialty areas include mental health nursing and family health. Students are expected to develop their assessment and planning skills and learn new techniques to implement nursing care for clients.

Learning Objectives:

discuss and institute appropriate nursing interventions for clients with mental health problems;

utilise the most appropriate nursing care for clients within the specialty areas of family health;

demonstrate an understanding of normal physiological and psychosocial needs of a family with a new infant.

On-course assessment (50%); examination (50%). Students must also pass clinical placement to pass this subject.
