Research Thesis

Contact hours as negotiated with the Head of College through the supervisor. Full year.

Available, at the discretion of the Head of College, to all students with a Bachelor of Music or equivalent qualification undertaking the Bachelor of Music Honours (Research) degree.

Students will write a thesis of at least 10,000 words demonstrating mastery of methodology and a research area appropriate to honours level.

Learning Objectives:

research technical and aesthetic aspects of performance/composition;

develop critical appraisal and evaluation of current research in music;

become competent in a range of relevant research techniques;

further abilities as an independent researcher and musician by following an individual program of research.

Assessment by presentation of thesis having a supportive relationship to the honours practice (100%).
