Experiencing Music

Townsville, External

HECS Band 1

13 hours workshops, 80-100 hours of industry placement. Full year (Townsville campus); Semester 1 or 2 (External).

Available to BMus students (Internal mode only); Certificate of Music Business students (Internal or External mode).

This subject will involve work experience in the community in an area relevant to the student's first study area. Students will undertake a minimum number of hours of work experience and present a seminar report on their experience and findings.

Learning Objectives:

gain direct knowledge of the employment opportunities available in the music industry;

develop an in-depth understanding of the workings of a commercial music enterprise;

develop contacts with employers and others in the music workforce;

develop various business and industry skills.

Assessment by contributions in Learn JCU environment (10%); industry and careers portfolio (20%); interim seminar (20%); final seminar or work experience report (50%) (must be successfully passed); written report from the work experience employer must be obtained for 50% component to be included.
