Managing Music

13 hours lectures, 13 hours workshops. Semester 2 (Townsville campus); Semester 1 or 2 (External).

Available to BMus students (Internal mode only) and Certificate of Music Business students (Internal or External mode).

This subject is designed to inform students of the potential for a successful career in music and will cover a host of issues related to developing a professional portfolio in the music industry.

Learning Objectives:

gain hands-on experience of managing music in the professional environment;

develop a variety of entrepreneurial, management, administration and marketing skills;

enhance potential for a successful career in music;

develop a variety of skills in personal presentation, communication, self-management and promotion.

Assessment by group concert presentation (20%); promotional folio, curriculum vitae 25%); job application, interview (25%); personal web page (15%); seminar presentation (15%). All items must be successfully attempted.
