Ecology and Impact Assessment in Mangrove Ecosystems
26 hours lectures, 6 hours tutorials, 6 hours practicals, 2 days field work/field project. Semester 2.
Dr M Sheaves.
The subject covers four major areas relevant to tropical estuarine studies: the physical environmental setting, the biological and ecological responses of plants and animals to the physical regime, the study of stresses and impacts on these systems and the interaction between science and management of tropical coastal marine systems. Emphasis will be placed on the ecological functioning and how hard science can be directed to underpin coherent management of these systems.
