An advanced treatment of the communities associated with tropical intertidal and shallow water habitats, with an introduction to deeper water benthos.
Learning Objectives:
application of benthic sampling techniques;
comparison of tropical and temperate systems; benthic communities;
evaluation of benthic data;
identify the components of tropical food webs based on sedimentary and rocky shores.
Assessment by written examination (60%); laboratory and field work (30%); tutorials (10%).
