Television Documentary

This subject develops students' skills in television news and current affairs and applies them to the creation of documentaries. Students are introduced to writing program briefs, pitching story ideas and applying for funds. In practice, the subject engages students in the documentary-production process: researching a topic, organising and conducting interviews, scripting and non-linear editing.

Learning Objectives:

demonstrated ability to write a program brief and pitch an idea for a television documentary in an attempt to secure funding for its production;

demonstrated ability to apply television journalism skills to broadcast-quality documentary production.

Assessment by one mini-documentary (40%); one documentary (60%).
