Students extend their radio reporting and production skills to current affairs. The subject involves researching and conducting interviews, digital editing and studio-production of a current affairs program. The subject explores techniques used by investigative journalists and emphasises the need for balanced reports in current affairs programs.

Learning Objectives:

an understanding of the techniques used to effectively communicate information and ideas in a radio magazine;

how to research and prepare a written proposal for a magazine;

planning and executing a magazine production schedule;

recording and finding relevant audio material;

structuring, scripting and mixing the magazine.

Assessment by regular current affairs assignments (50%); production of a current affairs program (40%); participation in practicals (10%).
