This subject is designed to provide students with the skills to produce broadcast news stories and news bulletins to industry standard. The subject involves liaising with the community, selecting suitable stories, conducting research and interviews, non-linear editing to final cut and understanding multi-camera television studio production.

Learning Objectives:

the ability to conduct negotiations with community clients and identify production needs.;

the ability to isolate an idea or issue and undertake the research necessary to convert the material into a producible form;

the ability to undertake the necessary production management activities to ensure the production is possible;

the ability to undertake practical single camera location production;

the ability to undertake multi camera studio production.

Assessment by production of original news stories throughout semester (60%); in-studio production of a news bulletin (40%).
