This subject introduces students to the historical, political, social and cultural frameworks of Indigenous Australians. It will critically analyse government policies towards Indigenous Australians and examine the unique nature of Indigenous (collective) rights and social justice and the role of advocacy in promoting Indigenous well being.

Learning Objectives:

gain an understanding of the historical, political, social and cultural frameworks of Indigenous Affairs (in the Australian context);

critically analyse government policies towards Indigenous Australians;

develop an understanding of the unique nature of Indigenous (collective) Rights;

gain knowledge of Human Rights and Social Justice and the role of advocacy in promoting Indigenous well-being.
