GIS for Environmental Analysis

This subject covers a range of analytical concepts and techniques particularly applicable to geographical data in the environmental sciences, including point pattern analysis, spatial autocorrelation, interpolation, terrain modelling and visualisation techniques.

Learning Objectives:

have a sound understanding of a range of important spatial analysis techniques and their environmental applications;

understand the relative merits of various interpolation and estimation techniques;

be able to implement complex spatial analyses using a standard GIS tool kit;

be able to design spatial analyses to support environmental problems.

Assessment by on course work (60%); examination (40%).
