This subject introduces a range of basic demographic concepts, theories and practical applications. The focus is on fertility, mortality and migration trends and their application to population growth.
Learning Objectives:
to provide an overview of current demographic issues;
to develop analytical, oral and written skills;
to provide a conceptual framework to examine population related issues;
to analyse and synthesise information relating to population issues.
Assessment by examination (50%); field work workshops (30%); essays (5%); assignment (15%).
