Geography of Southeast Asia and the Pacific
[Offered in odd-numbered years]
Dr A Cottrell,
Assoc. Professor D King.
The subject is an examination of the interaction between the environments and societies of Southeast Asia and the Pacific. It emphasises the development of common interests in the defined region, created by modern political conditions and common developmental aims, despite the widely different environmental conditions and human histories of the component units. Aside from the academic programs to which it contributes (Environmental Science, Geography, Social Science and Education), the subject is a useful briefing for those who plan to work and/or conduct research in the region.
