Available to students enrolled in the BCommunication Design degree.

This is the fifth of six units in the Bachelor of Communication Design's multimedia stream. Through a series of lectures, tutorials and practical sessions, this subject further develops audiovisual editing (i.e. Final Cut Pro) and post-production skills pertinent to creating sophisticated content for multimedia projects. This subject combines these skills with real world experience in media acquisition and manipulation. Students will document and communicate a client activity/message through acquisition of digital media and development of supporting graphics and multimedia elements using advanced production techniques and industry standard software. Students will be encouraged to develop and incorporate their own design ideas within the overall framework of the client's corporate style. Media collected in the practical phase of this project will also be available for use in GA3241 .

Learning Objectives:

plan, schedule and execute capture of digital media for use in post-production;

identify communication goals with client then research and apply appropriate creative design solutions to these problems and follow these solutions through several production phases in a manner suited to the selected production process;

demonstrate an understanding of relevant cross-platform issues;

demonstrate an ability to develop graphics, including motion graphics/animations that support/illuminate aspects of the client's message;

utilise available computer software and information resources at an advanced level for creative research and technical purposes;

produce a folio for presentation to clients.

Assessment by three major projects (total 90%); research seminar (10%). Attendance of 80% at practical workshops is required to pass this subject.
