Students read closely one example of 17th century French drama and one of 20th century French prose.

Learning Objectives:

to make students aware of literary movements, genres, themes and critical theories through close analysis of a sample of French novels, short stories, tales, plays and poetic works;

Assessment by end-of-semester examination (60%); essays (40%).
