26 hours lectures, 26 hours tutorials. Semester 1 (Townsville campus); 26 hours lectures, 13 hours tutorials, 19 other contact hours held in Cairns on three Saturdays. Semester 1 (Cairns campus).

General French language appropriate to the objectives outlined below.

Learning Objectives:

to take students to a level of formulaic proficiency (approximately 0+ on the ISLPR scale). Students will be able to give simple personal details (about where they live, their family and their studies), to perform tasks such as ordering in a café, asking for directions, booking into a hotel or catching a train, to read simple constructed texts and write simply in the present tense.

Assessment by assignments and/or in-class tests and/or end-of-semester examinations: listening (25%); speaking (25%); reading (25%); writing (25%). Completion of fortnightly homework assignments is a compulsory requirement of the subject.
