Research Methodologies

HECS Band 2

13 hours lectures, 13 hours tutorials, 39 hours workshops. Semester 1 or 2.

Available to students enrolled in the Master of Engineering Management course and to other students at the discretion of the Head of School of Engineering.

Literature review and on-line data searches; sampling, data collection, analysis and presentation; statistical methods, formulation and testing of hypotheses; introduction to modelling; report preparation; oral and written presentation of research results; ethics in research.

Learning Objectives:

to understand the role of research in problem-solving and decision-making;

to focus on practical solutions to contemporary problems with reliance on theoretical foundations;

to undertake and manage successful research projects.

On-course assessment including seminar (25%); project reports (75%).
