to provide students with knowledge of the fundamentals of engineering dynamics;
to familiarise students with common mechanisms;
to provide students with techniques for analysing the performance of mechanisms;
to develop and practise tactics for problem identification, formulation and solution;
to develop effective engineering communication by (a) learning effective problem layout; (b) practising the use of tools such as word processing, equation editor and spreadsheets and (c) learning clear and concise report writing skills.
