Assessment in Guidance and Counselling

This subject will introduce and develop skills in designing, conducting, interpreting and reporting on assessment protocols within a legal and ethical framework. Both qualitative and quantitative assessment techniques will be explored with an emphasis upon the behavioural and cognitive evaluation of school-age individuals who are typically referred for guidance and counselling.

Learning Objectives:

develop skills in designing and conducting reliable and valid assessment protocols;

ability to interpret and then integrate assessment results into an accessible and functional guidance report;

knowledge of the relevant ethical, legal and cultural issues in the assessment of school-aged individuals;

ability to critically reflect upon one's own assessment practices.

Assessment by protocol application (50%); assignments (50%).
