Available to final year graduate BEd students in primary and early childhood programs who have completed either Ed4190 or Ed4091 .

The subject focuses on current and future developments in the educational context and their significance for the beginning teacher. The subject examines a range of expectations, situations and experiences a neophyte teacher may encounter.

Learning Objectives:

critically assess the implications for the role of the teacher of current and emerging educational issues, trends and policies;

understand and be able to work in ethical ways which respond to the changing role of schools in society;

work effectively with the profession and the community;

develop and reflect on an incipient teacher identity.
