15 hours lectures, 100 hours practicum (ECE) or 125 hours (Primary/Secondary) (Townsville campus); 8 hours lectures, 125 hours practicum (ECE/Primary) (Cairns campus); 1 hour lecture, 125 hours practicum (External RATEP students only). Semester 1 and 2.

This subject is part of the developmental curriculum for professional experience within the Bachelor of Education program. Students will be allocated a school and attend for 25 allocated days (20 for ECE students), completing a range of activities to develop an understanding of the complexities of teachers' roles. As a culminating experience, students will plan, teach and evaluate a full-time three week continuous block of teaching.

Learning Objectives:

plan, manage, teach, evaluate a minimum three week continuous full-time equivalent block across all F/KLAs in ECE and Primary and full-time equivalent across both curriculum areas and including junior and senior in Secondary;

participate ethically in a range of activities within a school setting;

identify, analyse and support a range of learner differences in a school setting;

use a repertoire of language and literacy skills appropriate to the teaching profession.

Assessment by completion of performance based assessment and required attendance (100%).
