Fourth Year Professional Experience A

15 hours lectures, 75 hours practicum (Townsville and Cairns campus); 1 hour lecture, 75 hours practicum (External RATEP students only); 25 hours attendance at professional orientation week (Townsville and Cairns campus). Semester 1 and 2.

Available ONLY to students enrolled in the BEd.

This subject is part of the developmental curriculum for Professional Experience within the Bachelor of Education program. Internal mode students will complete one week of professional orientation which may include engaging in whole group visits to education settings and seminars with education leaders. All students will be placed in a school and attend for 15 allocated days, completing a range of activities to develop an understanding of the complexities of teachers' roles.

Learning Objectives:

develop an understanding of school settings and how they operate over a school term;

identify, analyse and support a range of learner differences in a school setting;

integrate and begin to articulate knowledge of policies, research and practices and own personal practice within school settings;

demonstrate a commitment to use a repertoire of language and literacy skills appropriate to the teaching profession.

Assessment by completion of performance based assessment and required attendance (100%).
