Secondary Specialist Curriculum Study

20 hours lectures, 10 hours seminars. Semester 1.

Available ONLY to students enrolled in the BEd (Secondary) and GradBEd (Secondary).

This subject deals with research and practices in curriculum and teaching relevant to the student's senior teaching area. Topics will include: current developments in policy and practice in the teaching area; critical analysis of relevant curriculum documents and their implication for study; skills of planning and managing learning environments; effective use of information technologies; assessment and evaluation strategies; and student diversity.

Learning Objectives:

analyse critically approaches to curriculum policies, research and practices in major teaching area;

work collaboratively as members of a team in the development and teaching of the relevant specialist area;

develop a broad repertoire of relevant practices in planning, teaching and assessing in the student's specialist area.

Assessment by test/examination (50%); tutorial attendance and participation (10%); assignments (40%).
