Secondary Visual Arts Curriculum

13 hours lectures, 13 hours tutorials, 13 hours workshops/seminars. Semester 1.
Available to students enrolled in Bachelor of Education (Secondary), the Graduate Bachelor of Education (Secondary) and level 3 BMus students. Graduate BEd students are required to take this subject with or before ED3491 if it is their first teaching area. It is recommended to be taken before ED3491 if it is their second teaching area.

Students will be guided through discussion, interaction, readings, critical reflection, written and practical tasks, to begin to formulate their own philosophy of art education and to gain insights into media, techniques and classroom management ideas suitable for middle schooling and junior secondary contexts. It is expected that students enrolling in this teacher education subject have already developed/are currently developing expertise in a range of appropriate 2D and 3D visual arts media and techniques.
