Hydraulic and Coastal Engineering
39 hours lectures, 39 hours tutorials, laboratory sessions, demonstrations, site visits and seminars. Semester 1.
Hydraulics - pipe flow, multiple pipe networks, Hardy-Cross solution, open channel flow, hydraulic jumps, transitions, backwater curves, gutter and inlet design, culvert design. Case studies from local channels, culverts and gutters.
Coastal Engineering - wave generation, transformation and dissipation; tropical cyclone waves and water levels; storm surge and coastal flooding; beach erosion and sediment transport.
