Microbiology - biology of microorganisms; microbes and human welfare; growth and nutrition of microbes; microbial metabolism; microbes and ecosystem functioning; nutrient cycling; BOD and waste management; eutrophication; landfill; bioremediation and metal corrosion; biofilms; microbial water quality.
Aquatic ecology - riverine and standing water ecosystems; riparian and in-stream processes; water quality; ecological implications; case studies.
