This subject covers emerging technologies in the E-Business field. This includes topics such as Internetworking, IP addressing, network layer and transport layer protocols, sockets, domain name serving, applications layer protocols (SMTP, http, url, html) web browser and server technology, security and firewalls, scale and availability, web based databases, authentication, encryption and secure transfer, B2B architectures, case studies, business models.

Learning Objectives:

understanding of the principles and practice of the topics covered, at a level appropriate for postgraduate studies, including analysis and design.

On-course assessment in the form of assignments and reports during the semester, including a feasibility and design project. Full details of the assessment will be handed out in class during the first week of the semester and posted on the Web.
