Introduction to AI and key features of AI problem solving; State space representation and search; Knowledge representation including production systems; Knowledge acquisition and refinement; Logic programming; AI Applications.

Learning Objectives:

describe the goals and features of Artificial Intelligence;

understand and use the fundamental techniques of Artificial Intelligence;

understand the nature of knowledge and be able to represent knowledge using schemes commonly used in Artificial Intelligence;

program in at least one language suitable for Artificial Intelligence;

understand some specific application areas in Artificial Intelligence.

Assessment in this subject involves significant on-course assessment including assignments and tests and an examination at the end of the semester.
