A basic introduction to the methodology of scientific research.

Learning Objectives:

describe different perspectives for the development of scientific knowledge;

describe the nature of research and the research process;

demonstrate an ability to set up researchable questions and to choose an appropriate research method;

demonstrate an ability to use various statistical techniques to analyse research data;

demonstrate an ability to write a research proposal;

demonstrate an ability to understand and evaluate research articles.

Assessment by assignments (45%); research proposal (40%); seminar participation (15%).
