The theory and practice of database design and implementation in a business context including: data modelling, data analysis, audit controls, database recovery, security and integrity.

Learning Objectives:

describe what a database management system is and how it organises data;

explain the principles of data analysis and data modelling used to design a database;

identify and describe the requirements for creating a database environment, including issues relevant to an accountant/auditor;

demonstrate ability to design a database and use a database language.

Assessment by class test/s (20%); assignment/s (15%); final examination (65%).
