Dissertation - Environmental Chemistry

From one to two years on an approved laboratory research project in environmental chemistry. Full year.

Available to postgraduate students completing the Master of Science degree in environmental chemistry by coursework and research.

Candidates may spend from one to two years working on a research project in marine chemistry, environmental chemistry, marine pollution, chemical oceanography, environmental analytical chemistry or environmental geochemistry. The research topic will be selected after consultation with the environmental chemistry course coordinator and the appropriate supervisor. Candidates will be required to write up the results of their research in the form of a report (maximum 80 pages) and to present a seminar to staff and students.

Learning Objectives:

to train students in the basic principles of research in environmental chemistry.

The degree of MSc in environmental chemistry will be awarded if the candidate achieves a satisfactory standard in any written examinations, seminar presentations and/or literature reviews and submits a dissertation of sufficient quality to satisfy the examiners.
