40 hours lectures. Semester 1 (Sydney and Melbourne). Semester 2 (Cairns campus). Block mode in May (Townsville campus).

To achieve competitive advantage, managers must understand the complex process underlying the development and manufacture of products as well as the creation and delivery of services. At the same time, the systems creating distinctive competencies for the firm today require the application of the principles of quality management and continuous improvement.

Learning Objectives:

enable managers to develop the skills and concepts required to ensure the ongoing contribution of an organisation's operations to its competitive position;

understand process analysis, internal and external coordination, product development and technology and operations strategy;

understand the relationship between operations management and quality management strategies and practices.
