This is the second of two semesters of mathematics which will cover the Mathematics B syllabus core curriculum for years 11 and 12 as outlined by the Queensland Department of Education. Elements introduced in Semester 1 are dealt with here in greater depth.

Learning Objectives:

be competent in calculations in both geometry and algebra;

develop an understanding of optimisation using derivatives and integration;

learn to use statistical analysis and compare data sets;

become skilled in problem solving with group tutorial problems as well as with individual assignments;

cover core mathematics 12 curriculum and the application of mathematics to real world problems.

Assessment by assignments (25%); tutorials and participation (10%); two examinations (65%).
