Aquaculture: Production and Evaluation Report

Students will be required to spend 40% of their total workload, equivalent to 18 hours per week for both semesters, on practical work and in writing a report of its evaluation. Full year.

Available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Science, Graduate Diploma, Master of Applied Science or Masters programs.

This subject covers the design, construction, operation and evaluation of the success of an aquatic animal culture system.

Learning Objectives:

to engage students in all aspects of production involved in an aquaculture enterprise;

to provide practical skills required for aquaculture;

to provide experience in the value and implications of husbandry techniques in the successful culture of aquatic organisms;

to develop problem solving and aquaculture enterprise evaluation skills;

to develop skills in cooperative operation of an aquaculture enterprise;

to develop skills in preparing and presenting major reports.

Assessment by an evaluation report (50%); production success measured by output (25%); student participation and involvement (25%).
