This subject explores the lives, experiences and achievements of Australian women in historical, cultural and contemporary contexts. Interdisciplinary in nature, the subject will draw on insights from a range of disciplines.
Learning Objectives:
- demonstrate an understanding of the historical and contemporary position of women in Australian society;
- apply appropriate theoretical frameworks and concepts to the analysis of contemporary Australian women’s lives;
- discuss and critically evaluate key debates surrounding gender related issues;
- distinguish between major theoretical perspectives in women’s studies.
Assessment by a 2,000 word essay (45%); reflective journal (30%); presentation or paper (25%).
