Quality Assurance and Hospitality Systems

26 hours lectures, 13 hours tutorials. Semester 2.

This subject builds on knowledge acquired from the study of earlier subjects and industrial experience. It provides students with a systemic perspective of service quality provision in hospitality organisations, providing an understanding of the philosophy and development of TQM. Additionally, the use and effectiveness of service quality assurance procedures are explored and applied in a contemporary context.

Learning Objectives:

  1. demonstrate a sound understanding of service quality frameworks;
  2. demonstrate evidence of research and further reading which reflects contemporary perspectives and developments;
  3. provide supported and logically reasoned discussions which demonstrate analytical depth and rigour;
  4. draw conclusions about the management of service quality in hospitality systems.

Assessment by two group presentation/projects (15% each); individual project (3000 words) (30%); a three-hour examination (40%).
