Tourist and Customer Behaviour Management

This subject introduces students to a series of concepts and research approaches in the tourist and customer behaviour field. It considers the characteristics of tourists, tourist motivation, destination image and choice. It follows an organising model of the literature so that the consequences of on-site behaviour and choice are explored. These consequences include satisfaction, learning, cultural contact and community impacts.
Learning Objectives:
- to introduce students to key topics in this area including work from the tourist literature and other relevant social science fields;
- to examine the application of research findings and concepts to solving tourist and customer behaviour related management problems;
- to familiarise students with the array of methods used to explore tourist and customer behaviour topics.
Assessment to be advised. A field trip may be included within the subject.
