Tourism Policy and Planning

This subject will explore the role of government in the development and control of tourism. It examines relationships within and between different levels of government and between government and private enterprise. In particular the subject will analyse the effects of government policy on regional tourism development and international marketing.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to develop an understanding of the role of government policy and regulation in tourism development;
  2. to analyse the effects of government policy on regional tourism development and marketing;
  3. to learn the processes involved in preparing regional development proposals.

Assessment by a regional tourism development proposal (40%); presentation (20%); examination (40%).
