Theatre Studio 3A

Townsville HECS Band 1

Up to 120 hours workshops. Semester 1.

Available to BT students only.

Students will undertake modules in either Acting or Production.

Acting

Vocal modules — vocal hygiene, vocal fitness in rehearsal, vocal stamina in performance.

Movement modules — ballroom dancing, tap dancing, jazz dancing.

Production

Students undertake secondment with professional companies or venues. Length and appropriateness to be negotiated with course coordinator.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to develop models for learning which mirror professional practice in order that students may prepare for entry into the profession or for further study in the discipline.

Assessment by:

Acting

Voice: voice journal (5%); vocal analysis essay (15%); vocal rehearsal techniques (10%); two performances (15%); continuous class assessment (5%).

Movement: Jazz and Tap – continuous class assessment (10%); two performances (15%). Ballroom – continuous class assessment (7%); three performances (18%).

Production

Student’s written report (3,000 words) (50%); supervisor’s report (30%); weekly reports (20%).
