Theatre Studio 2B

Townsville HECS Band 1

120 hours workshops. Semester 2.

Available to level 2 BT students only.

Students will undertake either Acting or Production modules. Studio production and performance projects are devised to facilitate individual student-focused work towards professional practice.

Acting

Students select appropriate modules from:

Vocal modules — five key elements of vocal fitness, accents and dialects, sightreading.

Movement skills — physical discipline for the actor and socio-cultural patterns of behaviour across a range of periods with responsiveness to body impulses.

Production

Students undertake various modules/project work in relation to specific industry based skill areas. A variety of competencies are achievable to increase knowledge of skills integral to the theatre industry.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to enable students to develop, employ and obtain mastery of core skills in the discipline.

Assessment by:

Acting

Movement: creative diary (1500 words) (20%); performance work (30%); Voice: voice journal (10%); field assignment (10%); performance with an accent (20%); impromptu performance (10%).

Production

Achieve a satisfactory rating in both industry-based modules (as negotiated with the course coordinator) and a written report (2000 words) detailing the methodologies explored.
