Contact hours will vary according to the modules chosen up to a maximum of 120 hours workshops. Semester 1.
Available to level 1 BT students only.
Students enrolling in this subject will undertake either Acting or Production modules.
Acting
Vocal modules — the physiology of voice, relaxation, breath in relation to the body.
Movement modules — body alignment, physical control and precision in action.
Production
Technical production students learn the importance of sound for theatre. Areas of study include sourcing of sound; use of music and effects; the technology of sound systems; recording, editing and assembling of basic sound systems.
Learning Objectives:
- to enable students to identify, obtain and employ the core skills in the discipline.
- to enable students to identify, obtain and employ mastery of fundamental key competencies necessary for application to professional theatre.
Assessment by:
Acting
Movement: creative diary (1500 words) (5%); two performances (30%); continuous class assessment (15%). Voice: voice journal (6%); voice analysis essay (10%); two performances (24%); continuous class assessment (10%).
Production
Develop soundscape as related to a theatrical production together with a written report detailing the methodology (50%); practical skills tests to ascertain competencies on sound system components (50%).
