Preparatory Chemistry and Physics *

30 hours lectures, 22 hours practice classes, 22 hours practicals. Semester 1 (Townsville campus); Semester 1 and 2 and January/February block mode (Cairns campus).

This subject will instruct students in the basic scientific methods of chemistry and physics which are required for further study in the sciences and engineering. It also provides a broad introduction to the physical sciences for students in other faculties such as education and nursing and provides a pathway into science-based studies for mature-age students.

Assessment by written examination (60%); progress tests (20%); laboratory reports (10%); practice classes (10%).
