Noise in physical systems; Rice Distribution for weak signals; statistical properties of zero crossing rates, discriminator level crossings and local maxima; spectral analysis, filtering, fast Fourier Transform algorithm, Nyquist sampling; other spectral analyses; correlation analysis; information theory.
Learning Objectives:
- students will gain a working familiarity with signal processing principles and acquire knowledge of principles and techniques.
Assessment by a three-hour examination and assignments.
