Integrated Nursing Practice 1

Townsville HECS Band 1

26 lectures, 26 hours practicals, 39 hours seminars. First semester intensive block mode.

This subject will be undertaken by Fijian registered nurses enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing Science (Post Registration) which will be offered on location in Suva, Fiji.

Completion of this subject will enhance the student’s ability to assess alterations to physical, psychosocial, and mental health status. Students learn, reinforce and refine clinical assessment, nursing leadership and management skills and reflective practice skills. Current literature and research-based practice are the foundations for the theory, methods and skills incorporated in the student activities.

Learning Objectives:

  1. demonstrate systematic, concise and comprehensive patient physical assessments including appropriate written documentation;
  2. demonstrate a comprehensive mental status assessment including appropriate written documentation;
  3. discuss topics of leadership and management including leader and management theory, conflict resolution, change theory and quality improvement;
  4. utilise reflective practice behaviours in all course activities.

Assessment by examination (60%); on-course assessment (40%).
