Nursing Research

30 hours lectures, 20 hours tutorials (Townsville, Cairns, Mount Isa campus). Semester 1.

Available only to level 3 nursing science students.

The subject introduces students to the research process, different designs and the main data collection tools. It seeks to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for them to be able to utilise statistical data analysis techniques.

Learning Objectives:

  1. demonstrate knowledge of the relationship between theory and research;
  2. outline the research process and explain the sequence of its components;
  3. discuss different designs and approaches as well as their suitability to nursing research;
  4. describe the various components of a research project;
  5. develop skills for evaluating published research and its applicability for practice.

On-course assessment (100%).
