Music Ensemble 1

26 hours practicals/workshops. Full year.

Available to all students except BMus students.

This subject will involve active performance in either the JCU Choir or Orchestra. Students will develop their skills on an instrument apropriate for orchestra or in voice and enhance their knowledge of style and repertoire. They will take part in regular rehearsals and workshops and participate in performances both on the University campus and in the wider community. Students also develop a listening diary which documents the analysis of a number of appropriate works from the literature.

Learning Objectives:

  1. develop skills in ensemble playing and performance;
  2. attain knowledge of group dynamics and skills in teamwork;
  3. continue musical development in an ensemble context;
  4. develop a listening and analysis diary related to ensemble repertoire.

This is an ungraded subject. To pass the subject students are required to satisfactorily complete the listening diary and participate in a minimum of 80% of rehearsals and performances.
