Research Project B

Semester 1 or 2.
Available to honours or postgraduate students in mathematics.
The student will undertake a research project on a topic approved by the Head of School and selected in consultation with their supervisor. The supervisor will normally be a staff member in Mathematics and Statistics.
Learning Objectives:
- give the student experience at undertaking a research project in an area of mathematics;
- give the student experience in presenting the results of a research investigation in the form of a written thesis.
Assessment will be based on the thesis describing the project. Where the subject forms the first part of a major project, the assessment will be based on the work to date. This could include the research proposal, literature review and preliminary work as appropriate.
