Environmental Law

Available to level 4 LLB students.

The subject will examine the legal controls, common law and legislation and international conventions that are available to maintain and improve the environment in Australia and in particular in Queensland.

Learning Objectives:

  1. sustainable development, pollution, heritage, land use planning, natural resources, environmental impact assessment and audits;
  2. biodiversity, coastal management, wilderness and national parks, traditional rights, environmental litigation and comparative state and overseas experience.

Assessment by research paper (30%); tutorial participation (10%); final examination (60%) (subject to variation).
